Moving Home
East of West’s second album Moving Home offers a fresh set of original compositions by Bosnian-Australian double bass player Goran Gajić. Over the four years of their collaboration, the trio’s musicians have developed an intuitive musical relationship which emerges through their dynamic interplay, virtuosic unison melodies and expressive soloing, interspersed with moments of mesmerising musical sparseness. Gajić’s compositions explore gentle melodic motifs nested in uptempo passages set to Balkan-influenced rhythms. Moving Home is a finalist for ARIA 2023 World Music Album of the year as well as Traditional Folk Album of The Year in Australian Folk Music Awards 2023.
